Taurus New Moons are usually comfortable, uncomplicated events but not this time. This New Moon at 24° 36′ Taurus on 15 May 2018, 04:49 AM PDT has tension and contradictions right beneath the surface quietude.
On the sweet side, the Taurus luminaries are trine Pluto in Capricorn, and Mercury in Taurus is trine Saturn in Capricorn. Both trines are excellent for making accurate evaluations of real world items. Add on the wonderful Jupiter in Scorpio-Neptune in Pisces trine and we’re in an excellent position to make wiser choices about our finances too. The desire to make our dreams a reality is strong on the fixed Taurus New Moon. When putting your plans into motion make sure those are well thought out and include a sensible budget as well as time frame.
What might cause our careful plans to go astray is the dratted Mars in Capricorn-Uranus in Aries square at 29°. Additionally Mercury in Taurus makes an out-of-sign conjunction with Uranus, also squaring Mars in Capricorn. Something can come up out of the blue disrupting the flow, and while that may turn out fine in the long run, it can be very frustrating in the moment. In fact, it might not be a bad idea to have several alternative ideas already in place because we can’t ignore the fact both Mars and Uranus change signs within hours after the New Moon. The exact square between Mars and Uranus will take place the day after the New Moon when Mars is at 0° Aquarius and Uranus at 0° Taurus. What starts out as a confrontation between cardinal signs may shift into a standoff between fixed signs, and that is a game changer. We can be all braced for an explosive exchange, only to find everything put on hold for an indefinite period of time.
Venus, Taurus’s ruler, is not all that helpful either. Venus is in airy Gemini and conjoins even more mental Pallas in Gemini. Both are semi-sextile the Taurus Sun and Moon. Taurus and Gemini have little in common when it comes to pleasure since the former prefers to indulge the physical senses and the latter is happiest when trading witty remarks. Social activities with those we know well will probably turn out better than attending gatherings in hopes of meeting someone new. What we’re looking for will probably be at odds with what we find.
This New Moon in Taurus definitely marks the beginning of a new cycle, far more than most New Moons. It is a good time to follow Taurus’s natural inclination to be cautious about exploring new options and spend more time observing before making a move. Earth and water are moving into ascendance now and this will be the case for quite some time to come. Let’s celebrate this Taurus New Moon by doing one of Taurus’s favorite things . . . relaxing with good food and mellow conversation. Cheers!
