This is not your typical boisterous Full Moon at 08° 10′ Sagittarius on 29 May 2018, 07:20 AM PDT. There is far too much mud to slog through with earth and water signs clearly dominating the lunar chart. That’s not to say there isn’t some support for the luminaries, Mars in Aquarius is doing his bit via a trine to the Gemini Sun and a sextile to the Sagittarius Moon.
Now that Mars is pulling away from the square to Uranus in Taurus the extreme disruptions caused by the square will gradually die down, allowing a return to this Mars’s normal eccentricities. This will benefit his ability to feed the Sagittarius Moon’s fire, strengthening the Moon’s influence in a positive way, as well as energize our mental capacity through the trine to the Gemini Sun. This enables us to project into the future in order to pick the best path for each of us as individuals that still allows us to work within the collective.
A more sobering influence is Saturn in Capricorn tightly aspecting the luminaries. It is inconjunct the Gemini Sun and semi-sextile the Sagittarius Moon. Saturn in Capricorn continues to anchor us firmly in reality, reminding us regularly the practicalities matter. While this may take the shine off this Sagittarius Full Moon, if we acknowledge the need to use our resources wisely, we can still make time to play . . . something we all need in our lives.
Probably the most influential pattern is a sweet, waxing Grand Trine in water: Venus in Cancer, Jupiter in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces. This is like being enfolded in a loving embrace, wonderful for healing weary bodies and minds. Venus takes the more impersonal energies of the two outer planets and transforms those into a kind, loving energy we can all relate to on a personal level. Perhaps this will bring some improvement to strained relationships within our circle of family and close friends. Kindness and compassion may yet win the day.
Mercury, Gemini’s ruler, is at the very end of Taurus and will leap into Gemini a few hours after the Full Moon. By the numbers, Mercury in Taurus is semi-sextile Uranus in Taurus and trine Mars in Aquarius. This sets up an odd resonance that pits the forces of change against staid traditions. We may want to hold off making important decisions until Mercury has moved into its home sign of Gemini where it can function at peak efficiency. Mercury will be making a trine to Mars in Aquarius on Friday following the Full Moon, and that should sharpen our thinking.
The real blessing of this Full Moon in Sagittarius is how it brightens our spirits again, reminding us there is more to life than slogging through the trenches taking care of basic needs. There is a big, beautiful world out there waiting to be explored. It may take some creative thinking to find a reasonable balance between work and play but it can be done. Keep your inner light burning bright, and always practice patience and kindness. A happy Sagittarius Full Moon to all.
