Full Moon in Sagittarius, June 17, 2019

Like the New Moon in Gemini earlier this month, this Full Moon at 25° 58′ Sagittarius on 17 June 2019, 01:31 AM PDT, seems discordant and jarring. We’ll need to pay close attention to sort out what’s fact from fiction and if we don’t, there will likely be many missed connections.

Acting as a drag on the playful Gemini Sun and adventurous Sagittarius Moon is Pluto in Capricorn. Capricorn finds relating to the Gemini-Sagittarius axis challenging because neither sign is as concerned about the careful planning and execution preferred by Capricorn. In fact, both mutable signs often fly by the seat of their pants, making decisions on the run . . . something that can make a good Cappy shudder. One way to work with this uneasy energy is to focus on taking the practicalities into account before dashing off to play. It can’t hurt and when reality creeps back like it always does, we’ll be grateful.

Adding to the general sense of dissatisfaction is the inconjunct between the rulers of the Gemini Sun and Sagittarius Moon. Mercury conjoins Mars in Cancer and both are inconjunct Jupiter in Sagittarius. Mercury-Mars conjunctions tend to use words as weapons and in Cancer that can mean knowing exactly what emotional buttons to push, resulting in very hurtful words indeed. Jupiter loves to ‘embellish’ the truth to make a better story, so we can end up with painful distortions of the facts that create all types of havoc. Now is not a good time to get in a knockdown, drag out fight with loved ones because recovering from the verbal wounds may take much longer than is healthy for those relationships.

There are harmonious aspects involving the Mercury-Mars conjunction as well, and the best is a sweet trine to Neptune in Pisces. Generous applications of kindness and compassion will go a long ways to soothing hurt feelings. The opposition between Mercury-Mars and Saturn-Pluto in Capricorn may require more delicate handling because security issues are bound to come into play. All five of these planets are working together since Neptune is also exactly sextile Saturn right now. The fly in the ointment is Jupiter in Sagittarius who also makes tense aspects to all of those planets. It is semi-sextile Saturn-Pluto, square Neptune and inconjunct Mercury-Mars. In order to avoid landing in an unending controversy, please listen closely to what others are saying, make sure the information being used is as accurate as possible and choose words with great care.

Two planets sail along by themselves, Venus in Gemini and Uranus in Taurus. This does leave Venus free to lighten the mood wherever possible though having Uranus in Taurus running about unattended is a bit touchier. Even in amiable Taurus, Uranus is prone to upsetting the status quo for the heck of it.

As much as we’d love a nice dose of Sagittarius optimism on this Full Moon, it probably won’t materialize. Water and earth dominate this chart and those forces are more concerned with fixing security issues than partying. Keeping our cool and striving to be tactful, kind and compassionate are worthy goals. Ignore the most overblown rhetoric if possible, rather than responding in kind. Stay safe and practice patience and gratitude for now. Peace to all.
