Aquarius’s contrary side is extremely evident on the New Moon at 04° 22′ Aquarius, January 24, 2020, 01:43 PM PST. This is due to the luminaries squaring Aquarius’s ruler, Uranus in Taurus. Given this square is in fixed signs people aren’t going to be inclined to give an inch in their opinions. It’s time to brace ourselves for a whole lot of folks cutting off their nose to spite their face. *sigh* Celebrating our uniqueness as individuals is usually a good thing as long as we don’t trample over other people’s need to do the same. Humans are prone to saying my brand of weird is OK but yours is not. Diversity adds richness to our lives and it is important to practice tolerance and acceptance.
Point of view matters on this New Moon. There are several planets hovering around 12° to 16° including Mercury in broadminded Aquarius, Venus in compassionate Pisces, Mars in feisty Sagittarius, Jupiter in conventional Capricorn and Neptune in foggy Pisces.
On one hand, the Mercury-Mars sextile is all for being able to express our opinions freely and in many cases, loudly. On the other hand, Venus conjoining Neptune sextile Jupiter in Capricorn quietly promotes building a peaceful place based on pragmatic ideals. Unfortunately Mars in Sagittarius is also square to the Venus-Neptune conjunction in Pisces which casts a wet blanket over Mars, draining his energy and making him far less effective. The upshot is earth and water are still dominating the scene and we’re further ahead to emphasize the practicalities rather than attempting to pursue ideal options. Shading the truth to make a point is not likely to end well either. Being honest, pragmatic, kind and compassionate is always the best way to go.
One thing we can be grateful for is the Saturn-Pluto conjunction is sitting this lunation out. In fact it won’t be too much longer before Saturn begins to pull further away from Pluto and by late February, the influence of the conjunction will noticeably begin to wane. For now, it is those who have personal planets and/or Ascendant from 23° to 24° in the cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) who will continue to feel weighed down by this powerful pair.
We can still embrace our uniqueness on this New Moon in Aquarius and enjoy the sense of freedom that brings. The important thing is to allow those close to us to do the same. It is also a good time to seek out like-minded people and learn more about our place in the collective. Aquarius loves to support humanitarian endeavors and is willing to work hard to bring about needed changes to improve the quality of life for everyone. New Moons are good for making a fresh start and if we give ourselves time to contemplate our next step carefully, so much the better. Always remember to practice patience, tolerance and kindness to all.
