Life is about to get very real under the potent New Moon at 03° 24′ Taurus on 22 April 2020, 0727 PM PDT. Uranus in Taurus conjoins the Sun and Moon with Saturn in Aquarius squaring them. Changes we’ve experienced in our lives since Uranus entered Taurus about a year ago are about to become far more permanent. Keep in mind this is not necessarily bad either, despite the tendency many of us have to leap to the worst possible conclusions. Once the dust settles, we might find ourselves in a situation we find much more compatible with our most authentic self.
Fixed earth (Taurus) dominates this New Moon chart which just about guarantees the focus will be in the real world. We are looking for tangible results, not more endless speculation and theorizing. We need to know exactly what we can do to improve our lot even if that means delaying gratification, always a strong possibility with Saturn involved.
One ray of hope on this New Moon is the trine between Venus, Taurus’s ruler, and Mars, the action principle. Venus is currently in mutable Gemini trine Mars in fixed Aquarius. These two have fun together, enjoying light flirtations with lots of witty banter and laughs. They’re not really interested in serious commitments and with Venus going retrograde on May 12, we could end up revisiting romantic decisions we chose to make at this time. However there is nothing wrong with enjoying a pleasant distraction now and again to help keep stress levels down.
Mercury in Aries is having its ups and downs. It is pulling away from last weekend’s sextile to Mars in Aquarius which was excellent for asserting ourselves without being overly aggressive. It is currently exactly semi-sextile Neptune in Pisces which seems to be creating mass confusion in communications. AND Mercury is starting to make waxing squares to Pluto and Jupiter in Capricorn (exact on Saturday, April 25). What may start out as a minor disagreement can quickly escalate into all out war. Cardinal squares can be quite combative after all.
One thing Taurus New Moons are good for is learning to be fully present in the here and now. Rather than dwelling on the past or throwing ourselves into what might happen, simply live each day as it comes. If at all possible, enjoy a walk in the sunshine, smell the flowers and embrace all the delights of Spring. Another option is preparing our favorite comfort food, perhaps lighting a scented candle or two and having a relaxing meal at home.
This New Moon in Taurus will give us plenty of food for thought as our plans morph out of shape once again. Fixed sign changes can be extremely unsettling to live through and we need to be kind to ourselves and others while we process what has happened. This is a good time to move forward one cautious step at a time, something the strong Taurus vibe can help us understand how to do correctly. For now practice patience and stay safe!
