We have an amazing opportunity to explore our inner landscape on this Full Moon at 17° 20′ Scorpio on 7 May 2020, 03:46 AM PDT. Mercury conjoins the Taurus Sun, with Neptune in Pisces trine the Scorpio Moon and sextile the Sun-Mercury in Taurus. This gives us the ability to transcend internal limitations while remaining anchored firmly in reality. Mercury’s role as pyschopomp (guide to the Underworld) comes into play as it bridges our subconscious and conscious minds. Healing of deep wounds is possible if we suspend judgment and simply observe what Mercury has to show us.
Venus in Gemini is still widely trine Mars in Aquarius though this aspect is rapidly waning. Both planets also have challenging aspects on this Full Moon. Venus in Gemini is square Neptune in Pisces, an aspect that will last until almost the end of May. This upends our ability to have realistic expectations when it comes to love and money due to the hardworking Neptune denial machine. We tend to go back and forth between being overly optimistic to completely pessimistic. It will take some doing to find our way back to middle ground.
Mars is closing in on the end of his stay in Aquarius (he glides into watery Pisces on May 12). At this time Mars is closely semi-sextile to both Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn. The dissonance created by the differences between unconventional Aquarius and uber conventional Capricorn are highlighted by this aspect. We may pay lip service to societal norms whilst our actions may demonstrate the need for personal autonomy.
Both Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus essentially sit this lunation out though they are very widely square to one another. It will be next year when we’ll have the “joy” of living through several squares between these two heavy weights. Aquarius-Taurus standoffs pit forward thinking energy against the weight of ancient traditions.
Another interesting celestial shift taking place now concerns the Moon’s Nodes. They are leaving the Cancer-Capricorn axis for Gemini-Sagittarius. The North Node is in Gemini and the South in Sagittarius. Gemini North Node excels at networking and sharing information with others, whilst the Sagittarius South Node is inclined to be a hermit, hoarding “pearls of wisdom”. The driving cardinal force of Cancer-Capricorn gives way to mutable flexibility and the desire to talk things through.
The deep stillness of a Scorpio Full Moon encourages us to reflect on where we are on our journey. Fixed signs help us evaluate our resources and consolidate any gains we may have made. We can also enjoy the fertile richness of this Full Moon, especially since earth and water dominate with only enough air to keep our minds active and no fire at all. It is time to count our blessings, practice patience and always choose to spread kindness to all we come in contact with.
Note: Timing is averaged for EDT to PDT.
