We’re almost to the end of 2020 when the Full Moon at 08° 53′ Cancer occurs on 29 December 2020, 07:43 PM PST. What is interesting about this security conscious Cancer Full Moon is the planet that makes the only close aspect to luminaries, Uranus in Taurus. It is closely sextile to the Moon and trine the Capricorn Sun. Eccentric Uranus loves anything new and different while Taurus is one of the most tradition bound signs, making Uranus in Taurus a source of cognitive dissonance. However Uranus in Taurus may be what Cancer and Capricorn need to nudge them into trying something new instead of dismissing it out of hand.
We can’t overlook Capricorn’s ruler, Saturn, who is still closely conjoined Jupiter in Aquarius. While the Saturn-Jupiter conjunction does not make any close aspects on this lunation, it is a powerful presence nonetheless. We need to look to the future for answers rather than the past which is something the Cancer-Capricorn axis dislikes doing.
The other inner planets are caught up with the outer planets at this time. Mercury in Capricorn is making a waxing sextile to Neptune in Pisces, a very agreeable influence, while Venus in Sagittarius is tightly square Neptune in Pisces. Let’s just say we’d be better off discussing ideas about what can be done in service to others than indulging in a love affair where both parties are wearing rose colored glasses. Watch out for projections and unmanifested potential, both of which can seriously mess with our heads.
The square between feisty Mars in Aries and controlling Pluto in Capricorn is now waning in influence which is a real blessing. We don’t need more people running around destructively venting their rage. This one will be history the first week in January 2021 when Mars FINALLY leaves Aries for Taurus on January 7. That is also when the balance begins to shift from a cardinal to a fixed sign emphasis and we’ll need to adjust our approach to problem solving accordingly . . . but I’m getting ahead of myself. 🙂
The Full Moon in Cancer is about home and family, for better or worse, and with Uranus in Taurus gently urging change in this area it behooves us to take steps to make those changes happen. To be sure, very small baby steps are best because that way we’re less likely to fall back into our old ways of being. We can start by contemplating our personal concept of family. Some are naturally inclined to include those not related by blood. They easily embrace like-minded souls and love them just as much. For others it will take conscious effort to enlarge their view about family. It only takes a small crack to let the light in to open up hearts and minds. For now, continue to practice patience and tolerance as well as always choosing to be kind. Peace, Joy and Love to all.
