Get ready for action on this firecracker of a New Moon at 22° 25′ Aries on 11 April 2021, 07:31 PM PDT. The Sun, Moon, Mercury and Venus are all in Aries with Venus widely conjoining the luminaries. Mars, Aries’s ruler, has a prominent role on the lunation too. There is enough air to feed the Aries fire, causing it to burn brightly.
It is Mars in Gemini that is the attention grabber. Mars is gradually escaping a square to Neptune in Pisces and is making a waxing trine to Jupiter in Aquarius (exact in a week). Mars is also sextile the Aries Sun and Moon, an example of a planet in air feeding Aries fire. The desire to move on into new and exciting territory is very strong though we do need to give our new plans some time to solidify. Having Jupiter in Aquarius also sextile the luminaries increases the urge to take action now, and underscores the need to slow down in order to fully understand what we are considering getting ourselves involved in. Patience is required, as frustrating as that can be.
Putting new projects and plans together is made much more doable because adventurous Mercury in Aries is sextile Saturn in Aquarius. Saturn acts a gentle but firm brake on Mercury in Aries’s more wild-eyed notions. Since both Aries and Aquarius prefer to look to the future as opposed to dwelling in the past, we will find ourselves doing the same. It also helps having Mercury in Aries in mutual reception with Mars in Gemini. We really have the whole fire and air package working for us on this New Moon.
The major challenge in this chart is Venus in Aries square to Pluto in Capricorn. We need to be very careful about becoming obsessed with something or someone that seems just out of reach. As many of us have learned the hard way over the past several years, when Aries feels trapped, they react aggressively. So rein in those overly protective impulses or the need to micro-manage relationships because holding on too tight can result in being badly burned. This applies to both our love lives and potential financial dealings.
Rumbling in the background is the ongoing square between Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus. Our comfort zones are being constantly tested these days resulting in many feeling off-balance and insecure. Firming up our inner boundaries can help as well as practicing healthy ways to relieve stress. Explore new options one careful step at a time to determine what works best for us as individuals. One way to look at it is to acknowledge we are always a work in progress, regardless of age or experience.
This New Moon in Aries offers us a chance to make a fresh start. It really does feel like the beginning of the new astrological year, and an optimistic one at that. We may need to work at letting go of old business before we can truly take our first step forward. It’s important not to get in a big hurry either. If we want to make a clean start, we need to reduce the amount of baggage we’re carrying around first, and that sort of thing requires being patient and forgiving of ourselves. Time to practice patience and self-forgiveness as well as making being kind to all, including ourselves, a top priority.
