There are unsuspected depths to this New Moon at 21° 18′ Taurus on 11 May 2021, 12:00 PM PDT. The reason why is the Taurus Sun and Moon are closely sextile Neptune in Pisces and widely trine Pluto in Capricorn. One of the best ways we can access those depths is through making art of one kind or another. Tactile, physical types of artistic expression are favored by earthy Taurus, such as dance, sculpture, playing a musical instrument, etc. This works as well for ordinary folk as well as professional artists. It is participating in the creative act that is the key to helping us reach the hidden places deep within us. Be bold and let your inner artist out to play!
An interesting thing is going on with Taurus’s ruler, Venus. Venus is now in Gemini and the only aspect she makes is an out-of-sign square to Jupiter in Aquarius. Out-of-sign aspects means the numbers say one thing and the signs another. In this case, Venus and Jupiter are trine by sign (Gemini and Aquarius) while being square by the numbers. One way to translate this is fixed Aquarius being somewhat miffed by mutable Gemini’s fickle ways, while still being able to talk about those differences. The tendency to overindulge typical of Venus-Jupiter squares is toned down quite a lot too.
The other two planets in air are caught up with Mars in watery Cancer. Mercury in Gemini is trine Saturn in Aquarius as well as semi-sextile Mars in Cancer, while Mars in Cancer is inconjunct Saturn in Aquarius. The Mercury-Saturn trine in air is excellent for making well reasoned arguments, always a plus. What can trip us up is anger that wells up out of feeling resentful and put upon. Mars in Cancer does tend to take what it sees as slights very personally. Firming up our boundaries and tending to our self esteem can help us avoid the worst side effects of this odd triangle.
Mars in Cancer is also tightly sextile Uranus in Taurus. Mars-Uranus aspects are highly energetic and the best way to manage that energy is to direct it in healthy ways. Physical activity is an obvious way to do so, and with Uranus in Taurus involved we may come up with fun, innovative methods to exercise safely. Being physically active is also a good way to work off anger too . . . a product resulting from the frustrations generated by the Mars-Saturn inconjunct.
Since Saturn in Aquarius is still squaring Uranus in Taurus choosing sensible outlets for our energy is even more important. There are so many things happening in the world at large we as individuals have no control over, it is critical we manage our self care as best we can.
We are going to have lots to contemplate as the impact of this New Moon in Taurus unfolds. New Moons encourage us to look for ways to make a fresh start in some aspect of our lives. Looking to the house in our natal charts where Taurus New Moon falls can give us an idea of where we might need to make some adjustments. Other than that, put on your favorite dancing music and dance out your problems! As always, remember to practice kindness, tolerance and patience. Peace and love to all.
