New Moons are most often about beginnings but this New Moon at 18° 02′ Cancer on 9 July 2021, 06:17 PM PDT, has more to do with cleaning up old business before making a fresh start. Almost all the aspects in the lunation chart are waning (planets are moving further apart) and their influence is gradually lessening. There is a pensive air to this New Moon, and we may spend more time than usual feeling like our lives are on pause before moving forward again.’
The Sun and Moon in Cancer enjoy support from Uranus in Taurus. Cancer and Taurus work well together since both are interested in home and family matters. Good food is another shared interest! We might decide on short notice to do some home improvements or invite the extended family over for dinner. The luminaries also benefit from a waxing trine to Neptune in Pisces, perfect for keeping the peace and making it possible to overlook our loved one’s shortcomings. The Cancer Sun will be exactly trine Neptune on July 15.
The final square between Mercury in Gemini and Neptune in Pisces is stretching apart, allowing the fog to lift from our thinking. Less confusion is a wonderful thing, especially since Mercury in Gemini makes a waning inconjunct to Pluto in Capricorn (exact on July 8). Censorship can be a major issue if Pluto has a say in the matter.
Another square we can be thankful is losing influence is the one between Uranus in Taurus and Mars in Leo (as well as one to Venus in Leo). Mars-Uranus squares make for very unpredictable tempers. A real plus is Venus in Leo catching up to Mars (one of two waxing aspects of importance, exact on July 13). Venus conjoining Mars in passionate Leo ought to prove a delightful distraction!
The troublesome square between Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus is currently easing apart but is still within two degrees of exact. Since both Venus and Mars in Leo have moved well past an exact opposition to Saturn, we’re more likely to notice the impact Uranus has on this lunation, whether we’ll hit unexpected roadblocks or receive serendipitous blessings.
Jupiter in Pisces rides this lunation out, toning down the tendency to exaggerate as well as reducing the drama.
No matter where this New Moon in Cancer falls in our charts, it will still have a very personal feel to it because that is the nature of Cancer, a sign concerned with what makes us feel secure and at home. Emotions often run high and some may find themselves in tears over the smallest thing. This is the perfect time to give ourselves permission to do some self-nurturing in order to strengthen boundaries or simply breathe. Needless to say, being kind and patient is of great importance, so practice those daily. Peace and love to all.
