New Moons are usually times when we turn inward to contemplate our path forward but this New Moon at 13° 25’ Libra has the potential to be quite volatile. That’s because the Sun and Moon in Libra are conjoining Mars in Libra. We’re going to be reminded Libra is a masculine, cardinal sign and will push back hard when provoked. Another factor keeping things unsettled is an inconjunct to the luminaries and Mars from Uranus in Taurus. Just about the time we think we’ve figured out how to keep negotiations running smoothly, something unexpected throws a wrench in the works.
Libra and Taurus are both Venus ruled signs and as such prefer a peaceful atmosphere. Unfortunately having Mars and Uranus in the mix makes keeping the peace more challenging. Mars is a natural agitator and we all know Uranus is the original pot stirrer. We need the stimulus both Mars and Uranus bring even though the resulting changes are often uncomfortable. On this New Moon we may have a plan that sounds doable in theory but needs a dose of earthy practicalities to work . . . as in “is there money to pay for it”. The urge to drive ahead is strong but it would be wiser to simply wait for more clarity before making our move.
Venus, Libra’s ruling planet, makes a waning sextile to Pluto in Capricorn on the New Moon. This is an excellent aspect for deepening our understanding of how financial systems work and doing research into investment programs. Love affairs take on depth and passion now.
One of the biggest stumbling blocks to making sound decisions now is retrograde Mercury in Libra. The trine between Mercury in Libra and Jupiter in Aquarius (exact October 3) is waning as is an inconjunct to Neptune in Pisces (exact October 5). Between Neptune’s capacity for confusion and Jupiter’s tendency to exaggerate, any decisions made at this time are likely to be suspect. Mercury will be retrograde until October 18, and even then we might want to wait until the end of October/beginning of November when Mercury will be trine Jupiter and square Pluto for the final time. Those who want to rush in may find themselves running right over a cliff. Just saying.
Saturn in Aquarius is sitting this lunation out. It makes no close aspects and is only widely trine the Libra Sun and Moon. In other words we do gain a certain amount of stability but not enough to make a big difference.
The New Moon in Libra has the feel of “all dressed up and no where to go”. Or if we do have some place to go, last minute changes in venue or a sudden shift in the weather could wreck our plans. A possible solution is to spend more time on the planning stage with several different options built in to make our plans as flexible as we humanly can. Frustrations are going to be on the rise too. In time clarity will return but until then we’ll need to practice patience and be unfailingly kind. Choose peace and love.
