Full Moon in Aries, October 20, 2021

Tensions are likely to run high on this Full Moon at 27° 26’ Aries on 20 October 2021, 07:58 PDT. The biggest contributing factor is a cardinal T-Square created by the Aries Moon opposing the Sun and Mars in Libra with both squaring Pluto in Capricorn. The square between the Libra Sun and Pluto is exact on October 17 while the Mars-Pluto square is exact on October 21. If we’re feeling something has to give, this Full Moon will intensify those feelings. With Pluto involved, the changes emerging now are more likely to be permanent. For better or worse, people or situations that leave our lives are not likely to return.

What Mars is up to on an Aries Full Moon is very important. This time Mars in Libra is right in the middle of the action, conjoining the Libra Sun, opposing the Aries Moon, squaring Pluto in Capricorn, and last but not least, trine Jupiter in Aquarius (newly direct). Mars is not well positioned in Libra, a sign that prefers to examine all available options before making a move. However, the Libra Sun and Jupiter in Aquarius both help Mars keep its act together as it grapples with the square to Pluto. There is no getting around the fact taking action at this time is a requirement, not an option. Pluto’s presence suggests we probably aren’t going to like what needs to be done but this is one of those times when if we don’t take the initiative to do something ourselves, it’s possible matters will be taken out of our hands . . . consider all those mandates out there to get vaccinated! The best thing we can do for ourselves is take a positive attitude rather than going “woe is me”. Hand-wringing and whining won’t cut it. Keep in mind Pluto is not known for being kind and compassionate, quite the opposite. Good luck!

Mercury in Libra is now direct which is good because it is another personal planet in over its head. Mercury in Libra is sextile Venus in Sagittarius and both are inconjunct Uranus in Taurus, creating a Yod with Uranus at the apex. Thankfully Mercury is still trine Saturn in Aquarius though that aspect is fading. The Mercury-Venus sextile is on the idealistic side and where we might experience frustration (a Yod thing) is indulging this idealism at the expense of the practicalities. One common example is spending more than we can afford and running deeper into debt. Wishful thinking won’t put food on the table. Uranus in Taurus is the completely unexpected turn of circumstances, just when we thought we had things all figured out. One possible solution is to be as realistic as we can when contemplating our next project.

Neptune in Pisces stays in the background on this lunation. It is widely inconjunct Mars in Libra and semi-sextile Jupiter in Aquarius. Some may feel more lethargic than usual as Neptune draws down energy from both Mars and Jupiter.

Be prepared for an intense Full Moon in Aries which may act as an abrupt, potent wake up call for many of us. Cardinal signs dominate this lunation, as well as fire and air signs, contributing to a quite forceful vibe. No subtlety this lunation, just direct, in your face energy. That being said, there is no reason we can’t practice being tactful, patient and tolerant as much as possible. Be kind! Peace and Love to all.
