New Moon in Leo, July 28, 2022

It’s been awhile since we had a truly upbeat lunation and this New Moon at 05° 36’ Leo on 28 July 2022, 10:55 AM PDT qualifies. The Sun and Moon in Leo are trine Jupiter in Aries giving us a big warm kiss of fiery goodness. Even though the elements are balanced and the fire signs only have a slight edge, we’ll still feel how powerful the Sun is in its home sign of Leo. Leo at its best freely spreads warmth, goodwill and expansive generosity, and with Jupiter in Aries amplifying this energy we can practically bathe in it.

The one aspect on this New Moon that comes with a warning sign is the square between Mercury in Leo and the Mars-Uranus conjunction in Taurus. The presence of Uranus suggests we could be blindsided by other people’s opinions. And there is little likelihood those opinions can be changed at this time. Mercury in outgoing Leo is not afraid to speak up and that could be a problem because eventually Mars in Taurus will fight back and it won’t be pretty. This is not a good time to indulge our pride and ego either.

It is worth noting Mars and Uranus in Taurus are also conjoining the North Node in Taurus. The North Node represents what we need to be working towards and this suggests the changes that evolve will have a positive impact. These are very likely to be tangible changes that last because it is fixed, earthy Taurus after all. And since Uranus is notoriously tricky, we might not even notice changes until well after the fact, either that or it will be a very big deal that everyone notices immediately.

A truly sweet aspect is the waxing sextile between Venus in Cancer and Mars in Taurus. Touchy feely expressions of love and affection are in vogue, along with all types of non-verbal ways to “I love you”. It is a great energy for working with plants and animals. Water and earth are always a fertile combination but Cancer and Taurus are the best at creating the perfect conditions to promote growth.

Saturn in Aquarius sits this lunation out but will be front and center on the Full Moon in Aquarius. Neptune in Pisces and Pluto in Capricorn are sextile but since they don’t aspect the inner planets on this lunation, their main effect is a pleasant background hum. What having these three planets not actively involved does suggest is we might feel like we have a touch more control over events.

The message on New Moons changes with the dominate energy of the lunation. The last New Moon in cardinal Cancer really was about setting something new in our lives in motion. This New Moon is in fixed Leo and now it is time to take stock of where we are, keep what’s working and let go of what’s not in order to consolidate the gains we’ve made. The next New Moon will be in mutable, detail oriented Virgo where we can make adjustments to tidy things up. Of course the whole cycle starts over the New Moon in cardinal Libra. This particular New Moon in Leo offers us a special boost in confidant, creative energy, courtesy of the trine to Jupiter in Aries. Of course we still have to successfully navigate issues stemming from that pesky square between Mercury in Leo and the Taurus stellium but we can do it. Don’t forget to practice kindness, patience and tolerance as well. Peace and love to all.
