Usually when the Moon is new in Virgo it is a quiet affair, because that is Virgo’s preference. This year the New Moon at 04° 04’ Virgo on 27 August 2022, 01:17 AM PDT has Mars in Gemini squaring the luminaries and that can stir the pot. Mercury rules both Gemini and Virgo so the weapon of choice is words, and we’re likely to be getting an earful whether we want to or not. There is one saving grace and that is Mercury is now in equitable Libra, making a waxing trine Mars in Gemini and a semi-sextile to the Virgo Sun and Moon. Mediation is possible if we’re willing to put aside the need to win at all costs and make a compromise or two.
The trine to Mars in Gemini does strengthen Mercury in Libra though it probably won’t help speed up the decision making process. Both Libra and Gemini like to look at ALL sides of an issue before deciding on a course of action. Mars in Gemini also makes a waxing sextile to volatile Jupiter in Aries, bringing risk taking back to the forefront.
There is still a Leo style distraction on this Virgo New Moon. Venus in Leo is caught up in a fixed T-Square with an opposition to Saturn in Aquarius and with Uranus in Taurus squaring both planets. Sudden decisions to commit and/or split from a committed relationship are possible. The investment world will be popping too, with some choosing to pull out and others going all in. Because this is a fixed T-square these endings and beginnings are likely to have lasting consequences.
Neptune in Pisces and Pluto in Capricorn are widely sextile and sitting outside the rest of activity on this lunation. The outer planets (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) need to aspect an inner planet (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter) before their messages can be translated into understandable terms. It is no different in natal charts. If our personal planets are heavily aspected by the outer planets, our experiences tend to be more intense and life changing.
Where we need to focus our attention on a New Moon needs to reflect the priorities of the sign it is in. This New Moon in Virgo suggests we take a deep look at our daily priorities and begin the process of taking small steps towards a healthier life style. Learn about foods that are good for us, how much exercise we need to maintain strength and flexibility as well as working on improving our sleep patterns. Remember Mars in Gemini is squaring the luminaries, and Mars energy functions best when put to work instead of causing trouble . . . much like active children. Stay calm, practice patience and choose to take a loving attitude rather than a divisive one. Peace and love to all.
