New Moon Solar Eclipse in Aries, April 8, 2024

The second of the two eclipses is the New Moon Solar Eclipse at 19° 24’ Aries on 8 April 2024, 11:21 AM PDT. The Sun, Moon and Chiron are tightly conjunct which puts a great deal of pressure on that degree point. Retrograde Mercury in Aries is also part of this Aries stellium, and that suggests we could be subjected to a lot of misinformation being projected at maximum volume. It could be very messy out there. F.Y.I. there are usually four eclipses a year, if not more, just like Mercury retrogrades. Eclipses can be spectacular, newsworthy events but chances are quite good we’ll survive, and the world won’t come to an end. If it does, it’s been fun. 😄

Since eclipses always align with the Moon’s Nodes, it is worth noting it is the North Node in Aries the luminaries conjoin. And that suggests if we follow Aries guidelines we’re likely going the right way. Confusion comes in with the presence of Chiron in Aries, who introduces doubts about whether we have the capacity to lead. We do, though we will have to screw up our courage to realize it. Retrograde Mercury in Aries definitely is not going to make it easy either because we could get hung up on the wrong information, or get into trouble by not taking the time to read the fine print. Getting in too big a hurry, making unwise assumptions and generally leaping to unwarranted conclusions are possible. Once again . . . Mercury will be retrograde until April 25, so please slow down.

The other progressive element in this lunation chart is the waning sextile between Venus in Aries and Pluto in Aquarius (exact on April 6). It hopes to empower our feminine side and encourage us to be independent and adventurous when it comes to love. While it might be interesting to play with investment ideas that are very forward looking, it would be wise to simply do research at this time. See above caveat about Mercury Rx.

Two waxing conjunctions play a large role on this New Moon Solar Eclipse in Aries. One is Mars in Pisces conjoining Saturn in Pisces (exact on April10) and the other is Jupiter in Taurus conjoining Uranus in Taurus (exact on April 20). Mars rules Aries and therefore influences the Aries stellium. However the Pisces way of doing things drives Aries nuts with its complete lack of directness. And adding Saturn only slows the process down further. By the time the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction is exact, Mars in Pisces will have pulled away from Saturn and we should have more freedom of movement.

The Jupiter-Uranus conjunction is causing plenty of excitement in astrological world. It does herald some type of substantial change because it is in earthy Taurus after all. At this point in time, Jupiter in Taurus is exactly semi-sextile the Aries Sun-Moon-Chiron stellium, while the semi-sextile to Uranus in Taurus is a touch wider. The question might be whether the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction will spur the Aries stellium to go to further extremes, or the Taurus influence will insist on proceeding at an orderly, deliberate pace.

We can be grateful Neptune in Pisces is on the sidelines this time. There is enough potential for confusion without adding Neptune’s input.

It’s beginning to appear this New Moon Solar Eclipse in Aries will be a brilliant flash of energy that can give us an idea where we need to go but the effect will likely be short lived and burn out quickly, so pay attention to those revelations. The elements are nicely balanced and there is only a slight majority of planets in cardinal signs, further indications to not get ahead of ourselves. Then we need to factor in the Taurus and Pisces conjunctions that do not share the Aries need for driving ahead at top speed. Until retrograde Mercury in Aries goes direct, it will support doing reviews and making revisions to our plans rather than jump starting those. There is bound to be lots of frustration which typically results in short tempers. It’s time to take a deep breath and practice patience! Peace and love to all.
