New Moon in Pisces, March 10, 2024

Anyone looking for a fresh start may find the inspiration to do just that on this New Moon at 20° 17’ Pisces on 10 March 2024, 01:01 AM PST. The New Moon happens just an hour before daylight savings time starts in the USA! The potential for significant change is afoot. The luminaries are closely sextile Uranus in Taurus and semi-sextile Mars in Aquarius, giving the New Moon a serious power boost. Neptune, Pisces’s ruler, widely conjoins the luminaries as well, something that adds depth to the mix.

The strength of mutable Pisces comes into play on this lunation. The willingness to be flexible and patient should allow the Pisces luminaries to find a way to work around the fixed Mars-Uranus square. Indirect methods are more likely to be effective for tapping into what Uranus in fixed Taurus has to offer. We could find ourselves agreeing to changes in our plans we never anticipated, and those changes will probably bring better results than our original ideas. The Mars in Aquarius-Uranus in Taurus square is definitely a wild card, and it will take Pisces ingenuity to find a path to success through the maze of unpredictability and stubborn orneriness.

Mercury in Aries shines brightly now and the sextile to Pluto in Aquarius looks promising for exploring fresh, forward looking ideas. Both Aries and Aquarius are more interested in what the future has to offer than looking only to the past. This aspect is perfect for those flashes of inspiration we need to grab before they disappear. Mercury in Aries also gives us a touch of cardinal initiative, a very welcome change.

Another interesting semi-sextile is Venus in Aquarius to Neptune in Pisces. In a way this is a precursor to Venus shifting in Pisces on March 11. Venus in Aquarius is rather cool and independent, but Neptune in Pisces will probably be able to dissolve those hard edges and reveal the softer side of this airy Venus. We might be inspired to make a donation to our favorite charity, especially those for women in need.

Neither Jupiter in Taurus nor Saturn in Pisces aspect the inner planets this time. However they are still sextile to each other and we continue to benefit from this upbeat, steadying influence.

There is always a slight feeling of cognitive dissonance with the New Moon in Pisces. Pisces is the last sign in the zodiac and where we usually spend time cleaning up loose ends before the Sun moves into Aries, marking the beginning of a new astrological cycle. This particular New Moon in Pisces has that feeling in spades. The wonderfully innovative sextile between the Pisces luminaries and Uranus in Taurus is really great for spotting ways to resolve old issues, while the brilliance of the Mercury in Aries-Pluto in Aquarius sextile definitely opens the door to future endeavors. It is even more important than usual not to push ahead too quickly on this New Moon. We all need to complete our “house cleaning” before running out the door to the future. There is always enough time to practice patience, deepen our sense of tolerance and remember to be grateful for what we have now. Peace and love to all.
