Full Moon in Virgo, February 24, 2024

Earth and water are clearly back in charge on this Full Moon at 05° 23’ Virgo on 24 February 2024, 04:30AM PST. The Virgo Moon opposes a Pisces stellium composed of Mercury, the Sun and Saturn in Pisces, with Jupiter in Taurus trine the Virgo Moon and sextile the Pisces stellium. This is pure comfort energy that supports taking care of ourselves as well as tending to our households with loving attention to detail. The fly in the ointment is Venus and Mars in Aquarius squaring Jupiter in Taurus. The question might be whether or not the mutable planets can temper the worst effects of the fixed square.

A closer look at the luminaries and their aspects may provide clues as to what we can anticipate on this Full Moon in Virgo. The Pisces Sun is flanked by Mercury in Pisces and Saturn in Pisces. Whenever Mercury conjoins the Sun we do lose some perspective but it may not matter so much in Pisces where Mercury seems to gather information out of thin air. Saturn in Pisces will likely have a stabilizing effect on the other two Pisces planets and that’s all to the good. Pisces has a tendency to drift and anything that helps tighten its focus is beneficial, and Saturn usually does a decent job of that. Jupiter in Taurus trine the Virgo Moon and sextile the Pisces stellium is a huge bonus. Jupiter rules Pisces in traditional astrology, and this may amplify its effect in this instance. We can dream big dreams and enjoy a creative boost at this time, while still being able to keep at least one foot on the ground.

Venus and Mars in Aquarius are rabble rousers and willing to do the most outrageous things to push us out of our comfort zone. With both planets making waxing squares to Jupiter in Taurus (Venus will be exactly square Jupiter shortly after the Full Moon and Mars will square Jupiter on February 27), this crazy energy is going to linger in the atmosphere for another few days. Those of us who are tempted to push the envelope and do something out of character, like get tattooed for example, need to keep in mind fixed squares tend to produce lasting results. So please don’t decide to sell your house and head out on the highway because once the adrenaline wears off and we sober up, regrets may set in big time.

The other aspect involving fixed Aquarius and mutable Pisces is a semi-sextile between Mercury in Pisces and Pluto in Aquarius. It will be interesting to see whether this aspect gives Mercury in Pisces Scorpio overtones. Mercury in Pisces’s ability to pull good information seemingly out of the ether could be enhanced. What we’ll do with that information is another story because some people will go to great lengths to prevent their secrets from being revealed and being on the receiving end of their wrath could be unpleasant.

Both Neptune in Pisces and Uranus in Taurus are unaspected on this lunation. Which is just fine because we can use a break from the influence of those two outer planets. Less confusion and fewer unhappy surprises are always good.

Our experience of this Full Moon in Virgo may depend on whether we relate more to the Aquarius planets or to the earth and water side of equation. Those who love Aquarius’s need to break with the status quo in order to shake things up will probably be out to create as much chaos as possible. The belief that shattering existing structures can clear a way for positive change to happen is an Aquarius thing. Those who simply want to go about their daily lives and enjoy a few moments of peace are more likely to favor the Virgo-Pisces element. Whatever we choose, please respect other people’s choices. It is our differences that add richness to our lives, if we can find it within ourselves to allow those differences to thrive and blossom. We’re in Pisces season now and Pisces prefers to encompass all types of beliefs and ways of being with kindness and compassion. As human beings, we can do no less. So please remember to practice kindness, patience and tolerance in days ahead. Peace and love to all.
