New Moon in Libra, October 8, 2018

Libra’s usual willingness to compromise is not particularly evident on this New Moon at 15° 48′ Libra on 8 October 2018, 08:47 PM PDT, due to a square to Pluto in Capricorn among other things. Agreements have to be clearly equitable for all parties or else. Chances are good secrets will be revealed that will make no one very happy.

Not only is Pluto in Capricorn squaring the Libra luminaries but Neptune in Pisces is inconjunct them . . . not the best scenario for clear thinking. Indulging in denial is not in our best interests at this time because Pluto will make sure reality will come back to bite us big time. While it is always in our best interests to choose the high road, it is particularly important on this Libra New Moon. Exercise compassion, common sense and be as honest as possible.

Adding a large dose of intensity is Libra’s ruler, Venus, in subtle Scorpio and newly retrograde while squaring Mars in Aquarius. Venus in Scorpio is deeply emotional and Mars in Aquarius is anything but. Some may seek emotional support from their partners and if none is forthcoming, it may cause irreparable harm to the relationship. Finding a balance (Libra) between our heads and our hearts is one possible answer. Another source of help may come from the trine between Venus and Neptune in Pisces. This soothing influence may allow for us to take a moment to step back for a look at the overall situation before casting blame . We all have those times when other factors in our lives pull our attention away from our lovers and partners, usually when they need our attention the most.

Though the trine between Saturn in Capricorn and Uranus in Taurus is waning it is still in effect for this lunation. There is an interesting situation with Mercury in Libra aspecting both planets. Mercury opposes Uranus and is sextile Saturn by the numbers but not by sign. In this instance, Mercury in Libra’s ability to see both sides of any given issue may work nicely with Saturn in Capricorn’s pragmatism and Uranus in Taurus’s knack for finding practical ways to redefine value. Mercury in Libra also lends much needed objectivity to the situation.

Like it or not, it will be Libra’s iron fist we’ll see the most of on the Libra New Moon instead of the charming velvet glove . . . a good reminder Libra is a cardinal, masculine air sign. Earth and water are still the dominate elements along with a dash of air which lends a detached, extremely pragmatic vibe to the atmosphere. When we sit down to set our New Moon goals, it will help to begin by centering ourselves in our hearts. As always, choose to practice kindness, tolerance and compassion.
